Pool Table Balls

A pool game is a common leisure and sport but playing pool requires a technique on how to set up pool table balls. You have to know the correct positioning of the pool balls in order to play the game correctly. Depending on the game you are going to play, there are correct ways on how to do it.

These are the steps on how to set up pool table balls:

  • Get the triangle and lay it on the table.
  • Gather all the pool table balls and place it inside the triangle until it is filled. Put the ball number 8 in the center of the triangle which is the middle of the third row to be exact. Be sure that the triangle or rack is tight enough to accommodate all the balls and arrange it in such a way that the balls are close as possible.
  • Put the first ball on the side of the table with the middle diamond on one side of the pool table. Most pool tables have a small dot as a mark in placing the first ball. The first ball should be in the middle of one fourth length of the table.
  • Once the balls are tightly packed, lift the triangle slowly and the pool game is ready to start.

Normally, the methods to setting up pool table balls vary depending on the type of cue game that is played. In eight ball, the fifteen object balls are utilized and the pool balls are arranged like this.

  • Place the 8 ball at the center of the rack which is positioned at the second ball in the three ball row.
  • Place the first ball at the front of the rack or the apex position ensuring that the center of the ball is over the table’s foot spot.
  • One solid ball and one stripe ball must be placed at the corner.  This will give chance for the two balls to have equal chances of putting both the stripe and solid ball inside the pocket. This will ensure that the two balls will be put on the pocket on break.
  • It is free to place all the balls anywhere you like just make sure that 8 ball is in the right place and follows the corner ball rule.
  • Ensure that there are no gaps on how to set up pool table balls to permit the best break.

The same principle on how to set up pool table balls is applied on the nine ball games; the only difference is the use of only one to nine balls. The number one ball is place at the front of the rack positioned on top of the table’s foot spot while the number nine ball is placed in the center of the triangle. All the numbers are placed irregularly except for the balls number 1 placed on the foot spot and 9 in the center of the triangle.
